By Way of Introduction

I was appointed Head Teacher of Chingford Foundation School from 1st September 2007. This is my fifth Headship , having been Head Teacher of the Royal Liberty School in Havering, Torells School in Grays, Essex, The Gateway Community College in Tilbury and Grays, Essex and Archbishop Michael Ramsay Technology College in Southwark.

Many of these schools ‘faced challenging circumstances’ and were deemed to be ‘failing to provide an acceptable stand of education’ by OFSTED. I led all these school through successful inspections and increased examination results (some doubling their levels of attainment). As a result I established a reputation as a ‘turnaround’ Head and worked with the DCSF (ex DFES) to assist in setting up two academies and was asked by one authority to ‘executive coach’ another school and Head Teacher through inspection.

I have gained, therefore, considerable experience of the improvements processes that need to be in place for a school to become successful. At Chingford Foundation School, the key will be to build on the undoubted success of the past in order to steer the school on to an ‘outstanding’ future.
