HEAD TEACHER'S INTRODUCTION

In September 1993, Chingford School became Grant Maintained. As such it is governed by a group of people, myself included, whose aim is to provide a quality education in an environment that gives a genuine commitment to individual pupils and students, within a Comprehensive School ethos. It is fair to say that since 1993 Chingford School has built for itself a reputation for quality education.

In September 1997 Chingford School opened THE CHINGFORD SIXTH FORM CENTRE. This prospectus is intended to provide information so that you can decide for yourself whether to apply to Chingford's Sixth Form. I hope that having read this prospectus you will seriously consider making an application to join an educational establishment that is committed to providing the very best possible educational opportunities for its students.

You will see that a range of courses are on offer together with additional and enrichment studies that thoroughly prepare students for Higher Education and/or employment. Students have access to a range of enrichment activities and courses that supplement the academic subjects chosen.

Mr N Taylor leads our Sixth Form Centre. He is supported by Mr N Armsby, Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr M Lansom, Vocational Course Coordinator and a team of Sixth Form Tutors whose job it is to provide guidance, help, support and mentoring to a high standard that will enable students to progress further in their chosen field.
Chingford School is justly proud of its reputation as a caring establishment that expects rigorous standards of work in a local community atmosphere. We have extended that reputation into the Sixth Form so that students are encouraged to contribute both to their own personal development, as well as contributing something to the 11 to 16 sector. To that end a wide range of visits, trips and social functions are organised.

As we prepare for the new academic year, our Sixth Form is well established and filled to capacity with many very able students. Our reputation as a quality provider of sixth form education has become firmly established in Waltham Forest. Places in the Sixth Form are made to students who make a successful application. Students will need to demonstrate that they are likely to meet with success at their chosen course. Evidence for this will come from their application form, reference and interview. In addition there are subject specific requirements. Further details can be found in the current prospectus.
